September 2010
The Final Inch with score by VONIGA, has received 3 Emmy Award Nominations in the News and Documentary category: music and sound; outstanding informational programming -- long form; and research. Courtney Von Drehle and Joe Janiga are nominated in the category of outstanding individual achievement in a craft: music & sound, for the HBO film directed by Portland filmmaker Irene Taylor Brodsky. Winners in News and Documentary will be announced Sept. 27 in New York City.

January 2010
VONIGA was awarded a January 2010 Artist Residency at Caldera, a non-profit arts education camp near Sisters Oregon. The award was for VONIGA to write and record new music for a future release, which we had a great time doing and are looking forward to finishing and releasing.

February 2009
The Final Inch, a documentary by Irene Taylor Brodsky about the eradication of polio, made by Vermillion Films in collaboration with google.org and scored by VONIGA, was nominated for an 2009 Academy Award in the Documentary Short Subject category.

Voniga was very excited to particpate in all the Oscar-related festivities in Los Angeles!
